Driver's License
Florida driver licenses must be obtained within 30 days of gaining employment, establishing residence, claiming a homestead exemption, registering to vote or registering a child in the public school system.

You will need to bring the registrations for any vehicles you own, your current drivers license for out-of-state, and one other legal document with your date of birth. If you have a valid license form another state, the following offices are open for 7:30 a.m to 6:00 p.m.

Vehicle Registration
Upon employment, enrollment of children in public school or establishment of permanent residency in Florida, new residents must register their vehicles with the county tax collector.

Items required are title and prior registration papers, proof of insurance and identification. The vehicle should be driven to the tax collector's office so that the vehicle identification number can be verified.

Handicapped parking permits are issued at the tag agencies after a form is signed by a physician. A fee is charged for this permit.

Florida is a no fault insurance state. Contact a local insurance agent for information on your insurance responsibility. It is also require by law that you keep proof of insurance and vehicle registration in the automobile at all times.

Sports & Recreational Boating
The State of Florida honors valid registration certificates and numbers issued to boaters by other states for the period of 90 days. Thereafter the boat owner must register with the county tax collector.

Homestead Exemption
This exemption pertains to real property tax and is primarily designed to exempt from taxation $25,000 of the assess value of your home providing such is your residence. To be eligible, you must own and occupy your home and be a legal resident of Florida prior to January 1 of the year in which you make your claim for exemption.

Other tax exemptions are available to certain Florida residents, such as those who are widowed, blind or disabled.

Intangible Tax

Voter Registration
